T1  - Veblen’s contribution to the analysis of (un-) sustainable consumption - Overvalued and underestimated

N2  - Veblen’s concept of conspicuous consumption is often cited to explain why consumption habits in our consumer societies tend to be unsustainable and ever increasing. However, much more than blaming individual consumption habits Veblen sharply analyzed quite some of the societal and economic forces which drive the framework conditions for un-sustainable consumption: the vested interests and the absentee ownership. The paper follows the path Veblen’s thoughts have taken trough economic and social literature over the last centuryand highlights how the actual sustainable consumption debate could make better use of Veblen’s insights e.g. in requesting the constitutive institutions for property. Opportunities for Strong Sustainable Consumption obviously presuppose radical changes, social innovations and thinking out of the box.

N2  - Das Konzept der Ernährungsnotfallvorsorge in Deutschland soll die Sicherstellung der Lebensmittelversorgung auch bei Eintritt einer Versorgungskrise, ausgelöst durch Störungen oder Ausfall von Sektoren Kritischer Infrastrukturen wie Transport, Kommunikation oder Energie, gewährleisten. Die natürliche Ernährung des Säuglings durch das Stillen ist besonders in einer Versorgungskrise, aber auch in Nicht-Krisenzeiten eine in jeder Hinsicht empfehlenswerte Methode. Bei so genannten Stillhindernissen von Seiten der Mutter oder des Kindes kann es aber dazu kommen, dass die Ernährung an der Brust, nicht oder nur eingeschränkt möglich ist. Vor diesem Hintergrund muss auf eine industriell hergestellte Säuglingsnahrung (trinkfertig oder zum Zubereiten) ausgewichen werden. Aus diesem Grund bildet die Überprüfung der Eignung trinkfertiger PRE-Säuglingsanfangs-Milchsorten verschiedener Hersteller für das reduzierte Warenangebot in einer Versorgungskrise den Forschungsgegenstand dieser Arbeit. Die Betrachtung der Produkte erfolgte anhand der sechs aufgestellten Kriterien: Mindesthaltbarkeit, Lagerbedingungen/Lagerfähigkeit, Zeitaufwand im Krisenfall, Ressourceneinsatz, Verpackung und Preis.

N2  - Die Ernährungsnotfallvorsorge (ENV) dient der Nahrungsmittelversorgung der Bevölkerung zur Überwindung kurzfristiger Versorgungsengpässe in Krisensituationen. Allerdings zeigte sich, dass die ENV, wie sie momentan besteht, den Anforderungen der globalisierten Moderne nicht gerecht werden kann. Beispielsweise werden Bevölkerungsgruppen mit religiös-kulturellen Ernährungsgewohnheiten bisher nicht berücksichtigt. Dies scheint allerdings in Anbetracht der multiethnischen Bevölkerungsstruktur Deutschlands unbedingt notwendig. Vor diesem Hintergrund wurden eine umfassende Literaturanalyse sowie mündliche Befragungen vorgenommen, die zum einen die Relevanz des verstärkten Einbezugs religiöser Belange in die Privatwirtschaft und Bevölkerung durch entsprechende nachhaltig gestaltete Strategien herausstellen. Zum anderen konnte die Notwendigkeit von Instrumentarien zur Bewertung der religiösen Eignung von Lebensmitteln aufgezeigt werden, um die Lebensmittelversorgung im Krisenfall für alle Bevölkerungsmitglieder gleichermaßen zu gewährleisten. Zur öffentlich-wirksamen Kommunikation dieser Erkenntnisse wurde ein Entwurf eines Pra-xisleitfadens sowie ein (Ergänzungs-)Modul zur Bewertung der interreligiösen Verwendbarkeit von Lebensmitteln entwickelt.
N2  - The emergency food supply serves to ensure the provision of general public with foods in the event of a crisis. Recent observations suggest that the current approach methods do not meet the requirements of our globalized modern society. Parts of the population with religious and cultural dietary habits are not yet considered. An adaptation of these methods to different demands of the people seems absolutely necessary in view of the multi-ethnic population structure of Germany. Considering these problems a comprehensive literature research and oral interviews were conducted. The investigation shows that there is a strong need of an increased inclusion of interreligious issues into private sector companies and the population. This could be implemented through appropriate sustainable strategies. Further-more it becomes clear that assessment tools are needed to evaluate the religious suitability of foodstuff. This is important to ensure food supply in the event of crisis situations for all members of the population equally. A concept of a practical guideline and an (additional-) module for the valuation of interreligious usability of foodstuff were created to attain publicly-effective communication of these findings.
