  abstract  = {This article presents closeness and distance as design possibilities in psychosocial counseling relationship. Based on an empiric qualitative video supported grounded theory study, clientʼs perspectives on counseling is focused. Therefore, clientʼs statements concerning the usage of material and methods within the counseling process as well as counselorʼs professional behavior are shown to shed light on the tension field between closeness and distance. Finally, conclusions relating to the counseling practice are drawn with a view to successful relationship formation focused on closeness and distance.},
