This study aimed to examine the impact of the Healthy Lifestyle Community Program (HLCP-2) on quality of life in adults. Subject and methods Data stem from a 24-month, non-randomized controlled lifestyle program which aimed to improve markers of NCD risk. Overall, 187 participants were assigned to either the intervention group (IG; n = 112) receiving a 10-week intensive lifestyle intervention on plant-based diet, physical activity, stress management, and community support, followed by a 22-month alumni phase, or a control group (CG; n = 75), without intervention. Quality of life was assessed by the EQ-5D-3L questionnaire at six measurement time points. Problems in five health dimensions ("mobility", "self-care", "usual activities", "pain/discomfort," and "anxiety/depression"), a visual analogue scale on self-rated health (EQ VAS), and the German EQ-5D index were addressed. Results At baseline, 59.8\% of the IG and 59.4\% of the CG reported problems in ≥ 1 health dimension, with improvement in the IG at all time points. Compared to baseline, the EQ VAS increased significantly in the IG compared to CG at all time points. The mean EQ-5D index tended to improve in the IG, but changes did not differ significantly from changes in the CG. Conclusion A lifestyle community program addressing lifestyle behaviors provides benefits for participants' self-rated health status, with the greatest effect after the intensive phase. IT outages from cyberattacks are particularly worrisome if attackers focus on those medical IT devices that are critical for medical processes. However, medical processes are primarily documented for the hospital employees and not for analyzing the criticality of any given human or medical IT resource. This paper presents a generic model for realistic, patient-focused simulation of medical processes. The model allows the simulation of cyber incidents, focusing on device outages or overload situations like mass casualty incidents. Furthermore, we present a proof-of-concept tool that implements the described model, enabling end-users to simulate their processes. The tool offers the ability to run with low detailed data for overview purposes and highly detailed data for fine-grained simulation results. We perform different scenario simulations for a sample hospital, including the acute phase of a ransomware attack, negative performance impacts due to the implementation of cybersecurity measures, and emergency plans for mass casualty incidents. In each scenario, the respective simulation resulted in a quantitative statement of how these scenarios affect overall process performance and show possible key factors supporting decision-making. The literature search flow was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRiSMA-2020) approach. Only peer-reviewed journal articles published in English between 2002 and 2024 were sourced from Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed. A total of 67 articles were considered eligible after the title, abstract, full text, and quality assessment. It was evident from the various studies consulted in this review that traditional fermentation, though being an ancient food processing practice, remains an important approach for increasing the level of nutrients, reducing antinutritional factors, and enhancing the nutrient digestibility of cereals, legumes, roots, tuber, and plantain. This has made fermented foods an important part of diet and nutrition in many cultures around the world, especially in the global south, with limited access to sophisticated food processing techniques and infrastructure. However, there is also evidence that direct contact with advantaged group members can undermine disadvantaged group members' engagement in collective action. Also, considerable evidence shows that effective contact need not be direct. Mere knowledge of cross-group friendships (extended contact) or observing positive contact (vicarious contact) can also reduce prejudice. This raises the question of whether these indirect forms of contact might also undermine collective action. We conducted a mini-meta-analysis of eight unpublished studies, including a range of intergroup contexts and samples, that measured indirect contact with advantaged group members and collective action among disadvantaged groups. We found a small but significant relationship that was consistently negative but varied in size depending on how indirect contact was measured. Tidal power plants have an impact on the habitats of marine animals and thus influence their behavior and population. In addition, the operation of tidal power plants changes the sediment distribution, causes a reduction in current velocities and a change in current direction in the surrounding area and leads to a change in wave height. The construction of the power plants is associated with noise, which primarily causes changes in the behavior of some species. In the context of this paper, energy recovery in the outlet of wastewater treatment plants is examined using the specific example of the water wheel at the Warendorf central wastewater treatment plant. The "artificial" hydropower potential can be roughly estimated at up to 20 to 105 GWh/a , whereby this is largely dependent on the hydraulic gradient. The strong variance results, among other things, from the findings of the water wheel operation in Warendorf. The decisive aspect here is the differential factor, which describes the deviation between the theoretical and actual energy yield of the water wheel. The factor includes maintenance work, downtimes and insufficient inflows, which are associated with a loss of output. In the case study, the annual energy recovery amounts to approx. 2 \% of the annual electricity consumption of the wastewater treatment plant and can be estimated to 23,500 kWh (2022). In the context of the economic analysis, it can be seen that despite the "low" yield, economic operation is possible if the system is viewed as a long-term investment - payback period of the example is approx. 14,5 years. Various challenges arise when it comes to upscaling. This article summarizes the technical challenges associated with upscaling wind turbines and presenting their problem-solving approaches and research trends based on other reviews. It was found that the most frequently cited challenges are related to individual components, such as rotor blades, drive train, generator, tower, and noise impact. For rotor blades, the challenges are increased flexibility, more aeroelastic vibrations, increased wear, interferences with radar and transportation difficulties. Proposed solutions include the use of carbon-fiber blades, prebending, novel paints, and for transportation, segmented rotor blades and on-site manufacturing. In the gearbox, torque increases, leading to higher weight and susceptibility to errors. As a result, the trend is moving towards gearless systems with permanent magnet synchronous generators. Transportation is the major issue with towers, which can be resolved with on-site manufacturing. Its expansion is therefore important in order to achieve the climate targets. Repowering is an important element in the expansion of wind energy. On the one hand, it offers a solution for many wind turbines in Germany that are no longer subsidised due to their age. On the other hand, modern turbines are significantly more powerful and enable more efficient land utilisation. This article provides an overview of the most important aspects of onshore repowering. There is a lot to consider when repowering wind turbines. The legal situation for repowering aims to be improved through simplified authorisation procedures. Even though efforts are being made by the government, there is still room for improvement. The repowering potential is also dependent on the various distance regulations to residential buildings in the federal states. These regulations might also be improved in the future. Another aspect is the remuneration, which is now closer to market developments due to the market premium model. It is also subject to greater competition as a result of the tendering process. At the same time, interest rates and turbine prices have risen, which creates economic challenges for the operators of future wind farms. However, its effectiveness in aiding pharmacotherapy decision-making remains uncertain due to the intricate, patient-specific, and dynamic nature of this field. Objective This study sought to investigate the potential of AI in guiding pharmacotherapy decisions using clinical data such as diagnoses, laboratory results, and vital signs obtained from routine patient care. Methods Data of a previous study on medication therapy optimization was updated and adapted for the purpose of this study. Analysis was conducted using R software along with the tidymodels extension packages. The dataset was split into 74\% for training and 26\% for testing. Decision trees were selected as the primary model due to their simplicity, transparency, and interpretability. To prevent overfitting, bootstrapping techniques were employed, and hyperparameters were fine-tuned. Performance metrics such as areas under the curve and accuracies were computed. Results The study cohort comprised 101 elderly patients with multiple diagnoses and complex medication regimens. The AI model demonstrated prediction accuracies ranging from 38\% to 100\% for various cardiovascular drug classes. Laboratory data and vital signs could not be interpreted, as the effect and dependence were unclear for the model. The study revealed that the issue of AI lag time in responding to sudden changes could be addressed by manually adjusting decision trees, a task not feasible with neural networks. Conclusion In conclusion, the AI model exhibited promise in recommending appropriate medications for individual patients. While the study identified several obstacles during model development, most were successfully resolved. Future AI studies need to include the drug effect, not only the drug, if laboratory data is part of the decision. This could assist with interpreting their potential relationship. The necessary coherent control of the electron spin triplet in the ground state requires microwave 𝜋 pulses in the nanosecond range, obtained from the Rabi oscillation of the mS spin states of the magnetic resonances of the NV centers. Laboratory equipment has a high temporal resolution for these measurements but is expensive and, therefore, uninteresting for fields such as education. In this work, we present measurement electronics for NV centers that are optimized for microcontrollers. It is shown that the Rabi frequency is linear to the output of the digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and is used to adapt the time length 𝜋 of the electron spin flip, to the limited pulse width resolution of the microcontroller. This was achieved by breaking down the most relevant functions of conventional laboratory devices and replacing them with commercially available integrated components.
