T2 - International Workshop on Engineering Multi-Agent Systems N2 - In this paper we present our approach for conceptualizing and imple- menting software agents as part of a multi-agent system (MAS). The procedure consists of four steps: (1.) defining the relevant types of software agents, (2.) specifying the components of the software agents, (3.) conceptualizing each com- ponent of the software agents, and (4.) implementing the different components of the software agents. Our approach is derived from the experience in the ongo- ing research project Gaia-X 4 ROMS in which we build a MAS for the real-time control of various actors involved in parcel transports. After following step 1-3, we are currently implementing the MAS using the development environment Spade.
